Model 11- post cleaning ?

Post by dhenzler »

My recently acquired model 11 had not been cleaned for some time. After a cleanup of the magazine tube, and lube of the spring & friction pieces I shot it... shot nicely. So I took it apart (mostly) and scrubbed it with a tooth brush and "Powder Blast" & WD-40 to get down to bare metal. The only parts I didn't remove were the carrier latch & cartridge stop. Just didn't seem necessary.

After re-asembly I took it out to my range and shot a round of skeet with it. Functioned well, but in loading the magazine tube... noticed the shells didn't want to stay up inside the tube. Came back to the locking block latch.

instead of stopping at the rear of the magazine tube held by the cartridge stop.

.

Functions ok, and shoots fine, but bothersome that this only happened occasionally before cleaning, now unless magazine tube is full (2 shells) it pops out to the first photo position.

Any experts out there know the remedy... do I just bend the tip of the cartridge stop a bit more? Don't want to break it... 20ga parts are hard to find.

The following post says what I needed to hear..

Apparently the shotgun is performing normally... when shells are loaded into the magazine the latch holds them at the end of the magazine tube. If cycling begins... shells are held out further... as a normal cycle position.

This is the correct status of the shell... the gun is fine.
