Model 11 lube???

I haven't shot it yet. Still gathering parts.
Questions is about lubing the mag tube.
It would seem to me, that any lube, would cause the friction ring to not function as it looks like it should.
Is this correct????

From the factory instruction for the "autoloading shotgun"- Apply a small amount of oil to the magazine tube at the friction piece.
