1889 10 gauge action removal

Post by revolveron »

My 1889, 10 gauge, Grade 1, double barrel shotgun with hammers needs some attention. I need to remove the action. I removed the hammers, barrels, trigger guard, top lever, bolt under top lever, one long bolt that was hidden behind the triggers that ran through the stock from sidelock to sidelock, but there still seems to be another bolt/pin running from sidelock to sidelock. There are 3 pins above the front trigger. I'm thinking it's the middle pin. Before I start removing pins, I thought maybe I should ask first. I don't want to invent the wheel if it's already invented.

Anyone know of any schematics on an 1889?

Have you removed the screw that is hidden behind the left hammer? That holds both lock plates in place. There are also some YouTube videos that might help you.

Thank you...got them off. Took a bit to figure out how to put back the top lever spring.
