1885 owners

Post by jetmek1 »

I would like to trade photos and information about these models with any fellow owners. Maybe even start a registry if anyone is interested. Please email al@godevilgarage.com Thanks!

Yes ...I have one that believe is grade 6. I have found very little info on them and I thought the Charles Semner book was lacking. For instance, on my 12ga the breech face is flat where all other remingtons of that era have a protrusion from the barrel top rib that fits a notch in between the firing pins. I think that is most unusual....

Is it possible that yours had the rib broke off and someone soldier in a rib in the frame from another gun ?

I dont think so. There is a a seam but it fits so well that i can only see it by some oil seaping from it. Also the factory engraving lines up perfectly on the top. So def not a later repair.
