Did some of the 1903's in the 3,089,xxx range originaly have "C" Stocks?

I have never seen ANY "C" stock on a Remington M1903 or 1903A3 with any of the cartouches (END, RLB or FJA) used at Remington. Curator at Cody even physically checked two in their inventory with "C" stocks to confirm that neither had Remington cartouches. "C" stocks were used on SOME of the M1903A4s during original manufacture, but many (most?) had scant stocks.
