7mm express

Post by Hunter Dan »

Hi. I recently came across a custom made rifle with a KE clark barrel and a Interarms Mark X action. The barrel markings say .280 rem and below that 7mm exp. Are both of these cartridges the same? Can this gun shoot both cartridges? Does anybody know of KE clark barrels?

Thanks,
Dan

Yes, same thing. Marketing decided they needed a fancier name for the cartridge. So for a while they called it Express. For such an excellent round it suffered in popularity. My main deer rifle is a 721 re-barreled to a .280 and sits in a Classic stock. The new barrel on mine is a match grade Donnely. Don't know of the KE barrel.

As I recall it is a very good mauser type action. Commonly used in the 60's.

KE clark barrels?

The letters KE might possibly be the date code.

This is a custom made gun, not a Remington.

K.E. Clark is stamped on the 24 inch barrel.

 INTERARMS is/was an importer of quality arms out of Virginia. I think charles Daly is now improting the Mausers. These are nice rifles, made in Serbia( formerly Yugoslavia), Have a 7x57. Beautiful rifle and affordable.
