Remington 14 locked up
Remington 14 locked up
I was going to take my old model 14 out to shoot recently. Pushed the button on the bolt to open it up, heard a metallic clink and the button is in all the way and loose-no spring pressure anymore just flops in and out. Is there any way to get this bolt to open or should I mill away the receiver and sell the parts? Are these too fragile to actually use?
Re: Remington 14 locked up
The action bar lock broke off, it happens, bad piece of metal, and the metal back then was not nearly as durable as today. Its an annoying and tedious job but you can usually/eventually strip it down far enough to get the broken part out. In 45+ years of messing with these I've had to do it twice on guns sent to me, honestly don't recall how I did it but remember it took a while.
Just a stupid suggestion but turn the rifle upside down and jiggle the slide
and see if it might release, probably not but worth a try.
