Grade of a 1976 Woodsmaster in .243

I have an '76 Woodsmaster in .243. I called Remington and they identified the year, but they were unable to provide any further information on the rifle. If anyone can help, I'd be interested in knowing the grade.

You have a 742 BDL, with "skipline checkering" a pattern started in 1973. In the 20 years that 742s were made, a total of 1,497,169 were made. 6% of those, or 81,786, were .243 caliber.

I disagree that it's a BDL grade. It's the "3rd version" checkering pattern.
The BDL model is represented in the right-hand side of this image. It has a "basket weave" checkering pattern and butt stock with Monte Carlo cheek piece.

So, just to clarify, I would refer to my rifle as a "Model 742 Autoloading Rifle (3rd Version)". There is no other grade or designation. Is that correct?

Correct. It's basically the "standard" grade checkering pattern for that time period.
