Early Remington 760

Post by cmv82207 »

Hello, I am new here! I am a collector of remington 760s and 7600s. I recently purchased a January of 1952 BYY 30-06 serial number 1035. I know the first serial number ever was 1001. Has anyone come across anything earlier than this? The stock is serial numbered to the gun as well. It is not drilled and tapped and in very nice condition. I would like to learn more about this gun. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just saw your post. You sound like someone who can help me with my recently acquired 760 .223.
Any idea how many were made in .223?
I would like to find an extra magazine, any idea who may have one? Some guy has one on eBay $349!

I also have a 223. It is the rarest of the 760 series with only 2,723 made from 1964-1969. I found my extra magazine on gunbroker for $25. Just have to keep an eye out and get lucky really. The coolest part about the 760 in 223 is that is was the first commercial hunting gun produced in that chambering!

Found a “new old stock” on eBay. $93.00 delivered, expensive, but less than others are going for on Gunbroker.
