2016 Hunting photo w/M30

Post by Recoil Rob »

Last year, after 25 years of entering the Maine Moose Lottery I finally drew a tag. I always wanted a .35 Whelen so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Years ago I purchased a M30 that was in good, but not collector, condition. I sent it out for a rebore and went with old school optics, a steel Weaver 3-9. Everything worked with Remington factory 250g loads, that's me in the middle between my buddy on my left and guide on my right. 742lbs dressed weight.

Nice Moose !! I have applied for 17 year and no luck ! My girlfriend got a cow only permit first year she applied !! We went up around Eustis Maine and I shot a black bear and she got a nice cow moose. That was in the 90s. John

I have a buddy down here that drew his first year (we're non-residents) and another guy that drew and then drew again the first time he was eligible 3 years later.

.35 Whelen did the job, he went about 15 yds and collapsed.
