Model 23 bolt action sporting rifle?

Post by beleg2 »

I saw an old advertice about a then new rifle from 1920.
As long as I know there was never a Model 23 bolt action rifle.
Any info would help.
Thanks

Are you sure that you don't have it confused with a Model 33 - .22 bolt action rifle?

I never saw a model 23 either!

It sure looks a lot like the M/30. I don't have a 1920 catalog, but my 1923 book shows the M/30. Neither are shown in the 1919 catalog. Was there a M/23 that was almost immediately updated to the M/30???

Hi,
According to the book Winchester Bolt Action Military & Sporting Rifles this is a false advertice about a rifle that was never produced. It was issued in February 1920, tittled " Good News for the Sporting Word".
The brochure was (according to the author) part of a misinformation campaign.
I just want to get more informartion about it.
Thanks
Martin
