HV 22 short

Post by rickomatic »

I just acquired a Remington model 12a, that's marked 22short/22 long/ 22 long rifle. I've been looking around this site for a few days and have been learning a lot. Thanks for all the great info guys.
Other than my Remington 740 that I've been hunting with for the past 20 or so years, I'm pretty new to Remington rifles.
Couple of quick questions. I've seen it mentioned several times here to stick with standard velocity 22. Does that go for 22 short as well? With the 22 shortage, I want to jump on what I can find. Aquila HV 22 short seems to be available at a couple places. 1095 FPS copper coated. Would this be ok for my Model 12?
Also, my serial number is RW 316735. No barrel codes I can see. Am I close in guessing around 1917 manufacture?

Your date of assembly was in 1915. I don't know pressure vrs hi-vel, but I would stick to ammo stamped std velocity.
