Any help at all

Post by dakota »

I have come across a remington rifle for sale but the owner doesn't know anything about rifles and doesn't know the value of it. Does anyone have any ideas.
It is a Remington 30-06 SPRG
Woodmaster 742
Date code RJ32.
From what I have been able to figure out it was made in 1962.
If anyone knows any info on this rifle it would be appreciated. I would like to buy it and want to offer a fair price for it.

We do not give values on this site since the value of a firearm requiers a number of things to be taken into consideration by direct observation. I would recommend you find a Blue Book Of Gun Values and look up the rifle you want to buy. You can also go to the on-line auction sites (like gunbroker or auction arms and watch what similar guns are selling for.

Another good source would be to buy a copy of the gun traders guide.

What you need to know is what marks is on the side of the barrel and also the serial number.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and value is what is it worth to you and what is it worth to the owner.

If it is a fair market price and you would like to own it, then go for it.

My book says that a model 742 was made from 1960 to 1980

There is different grades of that rifle that was made along with an Canadian centennial model that are worth more than a regular model.

It says that a regular Woodsmaster rifle is worth atleast $300
Custom Deluxe - $325
Bicentennial Model - $495
Peerless Grade - $1350
Carbine - $285

Hope this helps you out some.
