Model 1879 Argentine Rolling Block Military Rifles/Carbines

Post by Rob44Cheney »

Has anyone encountered numbers stamped on the bottom of the barrel of these weapons? If so, does anyone know their meaning? I have heard of (but not seen) numbers stamped just ahead of the action that are not visible when the forend wood is in place. My own rifle and carbine do not display any markings concealed by the forend wood. Thanks for any helpful advice!
