Yet another ID

Post by Paulo Lopes »

New here. I just bought this rolling block and plan on restoring it. My question is, what kind of rolling block is this and what caliber?
Thanks in advance.

Your rifle is the Egyptian contract model. It was originally chambered for the 11 mm Egyptian cartridge (11 x 49 R; also know as the 11.3 x 50 R).

Thank you for the reply. I cleaned it up a little, hopefully I will find some ammo for this rifle.

I have been shooting .43 Egyptian Rolling Blocks for many years. You will need to load your own ammo, cases are available and I load with a medium black powder. For short distances, up to 100 yards I use .45 Colt bullets in lead and for distances up to 500 yards I cast my own lead using a Lee die.
