Split Breech Carbine Mark

Post by billt » Mon Feb 11, 2019 8:11 am

Hi, I have a type two Split Breech carbine, which is finished in white. It has a faint cartouche on the stock, inspector’s marks on the frame and butt plate. It also has a US stamped on the butt plate and a rack number of 2772 stamped on the top of the stock in front of the butt plate. There is another mark stamped in the middle of the left side of the stock, which I have never seen before. It kooks like it may have been stamped and then possibly over stamped. I am wondering if anyone has seen this mark and possibly knows what it is.
