Is the family timeline on this rolling block

Post by Ramairthree »

Reasonable?

I did not know about a couple of guns my grandmother had in her family.
My father’s oldest brother is close to 90.

So, the timeline is around 1890 my great grandfather was a immigrant in Quebec hunting and trapping and had a Yeoman Carbine.

He married my great grandmother was was given her father’s Rolling Block as a dowry.

This is the Remington.

Thank you for any information.

Welcome to the forum.

The rolling block was produced from the mid 1860s until early in the 20th century.

To help narrow the timeline the gun was marked E. Remington & Sons until 1888 and Remington Arms Co. after that.

Other than that we would need the S/N, caliber and any additional information or markings to more closely determine manufacture date and other relevant history.
