I know that it is quite common in the USA but in the UK a New York State Rolling Block is quite rare.
I have just bought one and , even after hours consulting George Laymans brilliant book, I have a few questions.
They are all about markings.
Left hand side .. Frame has a single letter 'S' and the barrel flat has 'RS'.
Left hand wrist.. the usual catouche and stamp that looks like '7 44'.
Left hand of stock near the buttplate.. Stamped large 'CHC'
The last item seems interesting.. It is a silver oval with the words 'Presented by W.E.Rolfe'
Any Ideas?
I have tried to post images but have so far failed.
