I guess I don't know how to post pics yet.
Re: Help identifying
By the style of the buttstock and the escutcheon in the forestock, this appears to be a Remington rifle made under license in Spain. These normally have a Spanish crown marking, as well as a date of manufacture, stamped on the right side of the frame. The "US" on the barrel is not original - this type of rifle was not used in the USA. (Note to viewers: if you click on the last image it takes you to more photos.)

Re: Help identifying
I looked this thing over and there are no other markings except a 3 on the trigger guard. I know nothing about this at all.

Compare your rifle to the one on this website:

You will see many similarities.

Re: Help identifying
Any idea why it lacks all the other markings? I do see similarities but I'm not sure that's it, is there anywhere else to look on the rifle that can't be seen for any identifying marks? Sorry for all the questions I was just given this rifle and I deal with more of the modern stuff.
Re: Help identifying
With no proof marks or government ownership marks, it is likely produced for commercial/civilian sale.
