58 rimfire rolling block

Post by gtisdale101 »

I have had a 58 rimfire rolling block hanging on my wall for about 25 years. I decided to get it running again and can't find info on it. Any help would be appreciated. The barrel is 28 inches, 3 groove rifling, appears to be 1 in 78 so I believe it is a conversion gun from a musket. There is a large heavy ring on the barrel end that's sole purpose is the mount for the front sight. The chamber is 2.75 inches deep. the barrel length, the front sight and the depth of the chamber kinda got me stumped. Its stamped 37166 on both upper and lower tangs left side other than that there is no other readable stampings. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

In this case photos would be most helpful. Rimfire is unusual.
