Hello,
From the little information you give and without any pictures I can only assume and we all know what happens when we do that. If the 44 c/fw is really 44 CFW stamped on the left side of the frame under the cylinder and the barrel address is REMINGTON ARMS CO., ILION, N.Y. it is most likely a Model 1890 of which 2020 were manufactured from 1891 thru 1896. Yours being serial number 1081 would have been manufactured in 1893. They came with 5&1/2 or 7&1/2 inch barrels and either blue or nickel finish with checkered hard rubber grips with the RA monogram in a panel at the top. All were 44-40 caliber.
