xp-100 info needed

Post by muleskinner »

I have a few XP-100 questions I hope someone may help answer. What serial number range did Remington use when it started production ? When did the xp hard cases first appear. When did Remington change the bolt shroud from short to the long one.I hope this will start some exchanges of information and interest in the xp-100 . I have more questions . Are there any other xp-100 collectors out there. Thanks M Skinner

Here is my XP -100; in 7mm Int.

I bought one for my brother back in the early 60's and it had the hard case cover with zipper closure. His is in .221 Fireball and had a Bushnell 2x scope on it. It was used but I got it for $95. The one above was bought used about 10-12 years ago and it cost 5 times more. The fancy paint job cost $250. It is a tack driver with less than 1" groups at 100 yards if I do my part. The 7mm Int. is a Elgin Gates wildcat cartridge made from a .300 Savage necked down to 7mm.
