The Remington "Cubs" Series

Post by Drew Hause »

There were (at least) two variants of the "Cubs" advertising series about 1912-1917; one by Lynn Bogue Hunt, who provided cover illustrations for Boys' Life, Field & Stream and other sporting magazines, and advertising illustrations for Remington-U.M.C., Winchester, DuPont and others

This was in "Outdoor World and Recreation" in 1913

The other variant is more simple, and this one carries the signature "Kemble".
I couldn't confirm, but it is likely that of E.W. Kemble (1881-1933) who was chosen by Mark Twain to do the original illustrations for the first edition of "Huckleberry Finn" in 1884 when he was only 23 years old. He also did a later edition of "Uncle Tom's Cabin".

There were lots of "Cubs" ads, and pamphlet covers. Please add any images that you have to the thread.
