Remmington 510 Targetmaster

I just received my Dads first youth rifle and it is the Remington 510 Targetmaster. He is 85, born in 1931, my question is how old is the rife? It has 4 digits on the left side of the barrel. Any directions? Thanks from Tennessee.

It appears that no one gave you any answer to your inquiry so let me try and give you some information. I have a 510, made in January, 1941 with a serial of 62069. Production started in March, 1939 and ran until 1962, with none made during the war years, for a total of 558,686 guns produced. My serial number is on the underside of the barrel right in front of the forearm part of the stock. Serial numbers were discontinued after 1941. Look on the left side of the barrel, right behind the receiver, and you should find two or three letters. Give those to me and we can figure out the month and year of production..........tom h hemphill@gvtel.com
