Software Issues with phpBB Forum Arrangements

Is it just me, or is the forum software for this a little archaic? I go into a sub-forum to read posts and the most-recently-responded to post isn't on top, like one expects under vBulletin or other forum softwares. Did I miss a setting in my control panel on how to order threads? Every forum I've posted in has other topics listed at the top before mine, so it doesn't seem like it's ordering the posts correctly. Not something that can't be lived with, but just not what one expects.
