My Mother in law knows that I'm somewhat into firearms & internet so she asked me to do some research on her fathers (who died in 1970) 572 Remington, so I agreed as it should be a routine date check, I found lots of info on Rem's sight showing the letters that represent Month and Year but upon inspection there is no normal 3 letters on the the left side of the barrel, all there is, with the help of a magnifying glass is a faint N l and a rough 52 below that.
So according to "the barrel code" the first letter represents the month and as we all know there is no " N " in
B-L-A-C-K-P-O-W-D-E-R-X now the " l " might represent an L meaning it's year is 1964, but below is a 52 which means what?
Now the biggest part of the puzzle is a # 1962094 on the left side of the receiver does this mean it's a 9/4/62 ??
Please help, any information would be greatly appreciated.
