Hello all. I am new here and became interested in this forum after recently buying a beautiful, Remington 1858 New Model Army that I think was made in 1864. It is in remarkable condition and retains around 75-80% of its original bluing. There is no pitting or rust anywhere. The cylinder is devoid of any original finish though. All stamping are clear and crisp. Amazingly, the bore is like new. Very shiny with deep, sharp rifling and no pits or frosting. The right grip panel has the cartouche stamped BH (Benjamin Hannis). All matching serial numbers including the barrel, frame, and trigger guard. Numerous inspector stamps throughout. The action is very smooth and tight. Nice trigger pull and lock-up. I find this gun to be superbly built and a little ahead of its time. I am a Colt collector and have been around guns all my life. This is my first antique Remington revolver and it impresses me. Here are a few pictures. Sorry for the quality. Its very cold outside and these were not taken under the best of circumstances. I'd love to hear your comments. Thanks, Cliff

Hi Cliff,
Nice pistol. There is a serial list on this site that gives the year of manufacture.
Enjoy!

You're were really lucky to find this beauty ! Army guns of the civil war are pretty rare in such a condition. I'm envious.

Thanks! Can you direct me to the serial number list? I forgot to mention that mine is in the 63000 serial number range
