Hello BillT, yet another new 1858 owner here looking for a little assistance. I purchased this from the family of Alvin K Stoddard. Numerous items were purchased with this pistol, one being the ball taken from his arm when ambushed by some Jayhawkers. Aside from the family story, I found a newspaper article online from 1862 corroborating the tale. After he healed, he re-mustered and as the story goes, he was issued this pistol. Could you please help me with a Date and cartouche ID?

Hi jato,
Your revolver was made in October of 1863. I cannot tell from your picture what the cartouche letters are. Can you tell what the letters are?

Thank you so much Bill, I am unable to read them with any certainty. I could guess that the fitst letter is a stylized B, but it's only a guess. Do you know of a graphic hidden on the net of cartouches?
