New Model Pocket Revolver, made between 1863 and 1888. Calibre was .31 percussion until 1873 when they left the factory as cartridge, .32 rim fire. Approx 25,000 made, barrel lengths were 3", 3 1/2", 4" and 4 1/2". Three models are noted by collectors, 1st had a brass frame, 2nd had a steel frame with brass trigger guard and the 3rd was all steel. Yours appears to be type #3.

There is a fourth model of the pocket pistol. It has a brass frame and a steel trigger guard. Remington would have introduce parts changes during production and would use the old parts first, thus creating several models.
