Post by Eskilgh »

Hi
After years of revolver collecting I bought my self a single shot pistol the other day.

I have a question on the markings on the frame (upper tang). It is 2 numbers on the upper tang, the serial number and ??, what is this second number for?

Any good books on these pistols?

Best regards

Eskil

According to the book Remington Rolling Block Pistols by Jerry Landskron, 1981(this is the Bible on these)!
He states the first numbers on the left trigger and grip straps, are assembly numbers, and the second no. on the top strap is the Serial No. However, there are some exceptions.
His book was listed under Remington Books on this site, but it seems to have been deleted.
I believe it has been out of print for quite some time, but you might find a used one on line.

Hi Chuck
Thanks for the reply. I'll try to get myself a copy of Mr. Landskron's book.

Have a nice day
