Hello,
I am a new member to the forum.
I just acquired a Remington New Model Army Serial Number 102840.
Can the experts please advise when it was manufactured and when it was shipped to the Government ?
The wooden grip has the Martial Inspection mark. Is there another way to know for sure it was shipped to the Government vs. Commercial ?
Also, is there any source that can provide where this particular gun was shipped to or assigned to in the military ?
Thank you,
Saratoga15

Hi,
Your revolver was manufactured in October of 1864. The cartouche on the left grip indicates the revolver was accepted by the Army Ordnance Department and most likely shipped that same month. There are no records of which units received which revolvers.
