1858 remington convertions

Post by dogloverlynn »

I just purchased an 1858 Remington (repo) and a Kirst Konvertion cylinder. Thus the pistol is coveted to .45 colt long .Does anyone out there have experience with the best loads and factory ammo for the pistol? Is there a problem using hot loads once in a while or for personal protection? The cylinder seems very well made (high quality tool steel), though it is expensive ($249). Thanks if you can help.

Suggest to use standard Colt safe loads. The 45 Colt is a formidable round without "hotrodding".
