Remington Derringer

Post by Incaboy1 »

Greetings from Tennessee! I need some help dating a Remington Derringer. After some research on line I was totally confused. I contacted Remington and was informed serial number records were not available. They believed the derringer was manufactured between 1866-1935. The weapon is stamped on top of the barrel, one line, Remington Ilion, N.Y. There is the number 258 stamped on the bottom of the barrel. Any help would be great!

Hi Incaboy,

Is this a double derringer, or a single bbl? If a double derringer, that marking should be: "Remington Arms Co. Ilion, N.Y." It was used between 1888, and 1911. The number is a batch number, not a real serial number. It will also be on the bottom, left grip frame.

Unless it's shortline variation ...
