I have recently obtained a Sportsman 48 Shotgun from my Great Aunt, that had belonged to my Great Uncle. The following markings apply:
Serial Number 3116792
12 GA for 2 3/4" or shorter shells
I would like to sell it and have no idea on its resale value. Can anyone lend their knowledge?
Does anyone have an interest?
I would like to sell it to someone who can appreciate it. I believe it to be in good condition but understand it is past its prime as a "active" shotgun.
Kind Regards, Ron. [/i]

Re: I have a Remington Sportsman 48 12 Gauge Shotgun for sal
Good condition is probably a bit to vague to determine a value, without gun in hand theRon wrote:I have recently obtained a Sportsman 48 Shotgun from my Great Aunt, that had belonged to my Great Uncle. The following markings apply:

best guidance for something semi-modern (49-59) is the Blue Book.
I'll put 100 then skip a few percents, good probably isn't better then 90% as good...
100% 90% 80% 70%
standard 310 200 175 165
Matted top barrel 320 220 200 175
Vent Rib 360 225 230 195
My blue book may be a bit old I don't have a lot of modern firearms but I don't suspect
this has changed. If it has any sentimental value it would be a keeper but I'm a bit soft
on that kind of stuff.
You are certainly more then welcome to list this in the post 1898 for sale section.
