model 17

Hello all, I just picked up a model 17 20ga pump yesterday for a song ($75). There's a reason though. Some Bubba decided to "fit" the stock to him and really took off a LOT of wood around the pistol grip. There is not much finish left on the outside but the guts are in great shape. Nice an...

Or you could do what I did with a couple of my old Rem. shotguns. That is bring it to your gunsmith and have him thread your full choke barrel for any of a number of factory or aftermarket screw in chokes. I found this to be the quickest and least expensive way to solve the "my old shotgun has ...

1/2 inch groups

I have 2 early 700 varmiters. One in 22-250 and one in 6mm Rem. which consistantly shoot below 1/2 an inch at 100 yrds. all day long. I have a 100 yrd. range in my back yard and many of my friends shoot here too. I have seen many of their guns shoot below 1/2 " groops. Of course you must have a...

7600 243 accuracy problems

Jim,
I can see why you like it more now! I'm glad to hear that a new Remington shoots. Even if it had to go back to do it. I wish you good shooting and good luck this fall.

I doubt there is anything you can do to get a deeper blue other than to bring it to a gunsmith and have the whole thing reblued. In my experience, all of the cold blue products out there are crap. They seem to wash off with solvent leaving different colored blotches. What about the stuff Remington k...

7600 243 accuracy problems

Glad to hear you got what you wanted from Remington. I've learned over the years to not send back anything to the manufacturer they don't ask for. Let us know how it shoots with its new barrel and if you get your stuff back.

mod 12 problem

I've had two mod. 12's that did the same thing. I never figured out what was wrong with the first one but the 2nd one I repaired by changing the breach block (bolt). It seems that the slot that the shell slides up in wears out allowing the shell to tip up. I could be wrong in this but a breech block...

The Blue Book only shows this: MODEL 521TL JR. BOLT ACTION- .22 LR 25 in. barrel, Lyman target sights, takedown, 6 shot mag., target stock. Mfg. 1947-1969 That's it. There is no 512T listed.

58 barrel

According to the blue book, the 58 was made from '56 to '63 with "various chokes" available. I went to the Hastings site to look for a barrel and it's a no go for a new barrel. Not even a listing. Then went to Gun Parts Corp. also a no go with no listing for a used one. I think that leaves...

Jim, The reason I'm curious is: A friend and shooting buddy of mine bought a new 700 in 22-250 last year and it was shooting the same way your7600 is. We tried numerous loads to no avail also. So we swaged the barrel and found that about 5 inches past the chamber we found a 3 inch area that the lead...

7600 243 accuracy problems

Sounds like you've done most everything short of gunsmithing. I am very curious what Remington will do or say. Please let us know when you get it back.

600's are great rifles!

I also have 2 600s. In my view, it's the best hunting rifle out there. I have a 308 that I use for whitetails. So far it has dispatched every deer with one shot. It is also VERY accurate. It will consistently shoot under one MOA as long as I don't let it get too hot. The best thing about the 600 is ...
