Re: Double Derringer Address Lines

Did a little more looking. I have a subscription to the Blue Book and found this there. "Remington Arms Co. Ilion. N.Y. Side Address (1889-1893),first address, short line, all are batch numbered, estimated production of 8,000." Interesting that they list it as a "Side Address" w...

Re: Double Derringer Address Lines

Shortline is the only one this model not batch, the others they went from 1-9999 and then started back over at 1.
Sounds like it was made in 1888 to me, there's probably people that know more about them and could tell me I'm wrong still...

Re: Double Derringer Address Lines

yes Shortline
Serial less then 3022 (I think that's the number offhand)
I don't know there is a definitive order for the rest but it's believed the shortline was first.
1888-1891 has always been my guess.

Re: Surge in Prices?

Just applied for our FOID card renewals - may take forever but the application should be good for the duration. Took 4 months for my CCL but that was just before Corona. Shelves are bare for most reloading supplies. Good that I stocked up before the troubles and I was able to find a few thousand W2...

Re: Surge in Prices?

Based on the recent surge of firearm sales (and ammo sales) I wouldn't take anything as a long term trend. ATF estimates 35 million firearm sales this year, crazy Illinois will account for around 5 million of that. Being Illinois starts off with a 6-8 month wait for a license (FOID), 2021 isn't goin...

Re: My ring trigger 32

I just looked at your 22's again and I think I realize that they are a pair!! More outrageous There are close in serial number which, I'm not expert, but I believe Remington just pulled guns off the line sequential just wasn't considered. If there's sequential pair of anything out there, I haven't ...

Re: Nickel

IMHO... not sure why it's not clearer when I researched but Nickel didn't show up until the late 1860's and anything prior and didn't show up in Remington until early 1870's. If I see anything that was made before 1870 I'm very suspect. I have however seen things like the ZigZag a few in Nickel but ...

Re: My ring trigger 32

All my favorites belong to someone else now.... I'd have to dig for pictures In 4 barrels I had a set with acid etched barrels and engraved frames. In 5 barrels I also had a set and do have a picture in hand from an old email. Elliot_22s.jpg Stepping back one from the Elliot, the ZigZag was always o...

Re: My ring trigger 32

It's a very nice Elliot, with a nice box. Just google archival boxes, it's just non-acid cardboard etc for protection of valuable papers etc. I'm also a very big fan of renaissance wax, it's what (at least many) museums use on their antique firearms for protection. Makes they blue just a bit more pu...

Re: My ring trigger 32

I'd buy an archival box (a larger one) and the tape and make a box for this.
It's just cheaper to buy a larger box and use it as materials to make exact fit boxes than buy the materials otherwise. I made archival boxes for all my boxes so they wouldn't further deteriorate.
This box deserves it :D
