Re: 12 Gauge Side Hammer Remington Double Barrel
According to the table in Charles Semmer's book on Remington Doubles, your Model 1889 was made in 1902. Grade 1 was the lowest grade, and was made with "Decarbonized Steel" barrels. Grade 2 had Twist barrels and Grade 3 had Damascus barrels. These three lowest grades were all plain with no...

Re: Model 11 Help Please
The records that the Remington Society have begin in September 30, 1919, and the high serial number that date is 199,611. When the Remington Arms Co. brought out this John M. Browning designed autoloading shotgun in 1905, they called it the Remington Autoloading Gun. In 1911 Remington Arms Co. was c...

Re: REMINGTON MODEL 1894
From the description you give it sounds like you have DEO-Grade, and from the serial number it was made about 1904. The Remington Arms Co. hammerless doubles, essentially an Anson & Deeley design boxlock, were built on two U.S. Patents -- No. 528,507 granted to Rimmon C. Fay, and No. 528,508 gra...

Re: Shotguns
Only about 5000 Model 32s were produced from 1932 to 1942. Remington didn't resume production of them after WW-II, and subsequently sold the design to Kreigoff who manufactured it as the K-32. With only around 5000 made, factory rightious higher grade Model 32s are very scarce. Normally in the Remin...

Re: side cocking shot gun.
Remington Arms Co. made two slightly different side-cocking single barrel break open shotguns. The earlier gun was the Model 1893, also known as the No. 3. Over time it was offered in 10-, 12-, 16-, 20-, 24-, and 28-gauges. Barrel lengths offered were 28-, 30-, 32-, and 34-inches in the little gauge...

Re: Model 10-A Deciphering Help?
The company name was Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. from 1911 to 1920 when it changed to Remington Arms Co., Inc. The letter U was the stock letter for these early pump guns as P and Q were for the hammerless doubles Model 1894 and 1900. The serial number factory ledger available on t...

That is exactly what I did when Keith removed a dent and rebrowned the Laminated Steel barrels of my Parry Arms Co. hammer gun.

Only an examination by a barrel man knowlegeable in Damascus barrels can answer that question -- Keith Kearcher, Buck Hamlin, etc.

Re: M3200 Live Pigeon Gun
The only catalogues I find that list the 3200 Live Bird Gun is the 1979 to 1982. The gun is not pictured in any of the catalogues. In those catalogues, the Live Bird Gun is listed as stock number 3207 and is essentially a satin finish Competition Skeet Gun with 28-inch barrels choked imp. mod. and f...

Re: Remington Magnum MDL. 870 Wingmaster 12 Gauge Shotgun
A barrel date code of DA would be for September 1954. Or, AV would be March 1979. The three letters together don't make any sense as a date code.

Re: Remington MDL. 31 12 Gauge Shotgun
The CSS date code on your barrel stands for April 1947. I have a Model 31 with a serial in the 827xx range and it has an LSS barrel date code which is February 1947.

Re: ordnance steel vs remington steel
On the Remington Arms Co. hammerless doubles the word Ordnance was stamped on the top of the barrel tubes on the AO-/AEO-Grade and BO-/BEO-Grade guns. On the CO-/CEO-Grades and higher the words Remington Arms Co. were engraved on top of the right barrel and Ilion, N.Y. U.S.A. with the word Ordnance ...

Re: ordnance steel vs remington steel
I just noticed an interesting offer on the "Extras and Repairs" pages of the 1918-19 and 1923 Remington catalogues. In 1918-19 they offer an Ordnance Steel barrel in place of the regular Remington Steel barrel on the No. 10 pump and No. 11 autoloading gun for an extra $9.75. In the 1923 ca...

Re: Remington model 17 "F" grade "NEED HELP"
As far as I know, the only catalogue to picture the Model 17F is Remington Arms Co. Inc. catalogue No. 107 dated 1923. They show up for sale from time to time on ebay. The Model 17D, E and F are all shown with capped full pistol grips, while the A and B have full pistol grips without caps. The F was...

Re: Remington M10-T-D
The lack of a date code on the barrel may well mean it was actually manufactured before the introduction of the date codes in 1921. Do the markings on the gun say "Remington Arms Co., Inc." or do they say Remington Arms -- Union Metalic Cartridge Co."?
