Late Remington Hammerless Doubles
The serial number chronology Charles Semmer created for his book, Remington Double Shotguns , shows serial numbers for Remington Hammerless Doubles (aka Model 1894s) up to 141194. In a lifetime of keeping track of Remington Hammerless Doubles I've recorded many up into the 139xxx range and then five...

Re: How old is this 870 WM?
L = February, A = 1954. The gun appears to be a Model 870 ADL "DeLuxe" Grade
The W suffix to the serial number indicates a 16-gauge. No prefix to the serial number indicates 1950 to 1967.

Re: Remington-UMC .410 Box circa 1921
It is an early 1920s box from shortly after the company became Remington Arms Co., Inc. In those years our ammunition manufacturers were experimenting with applying progressive burning smokeless powder, developed during The Great War, to shotgun shells. Certainly no clue in the 1923 Remington catalo...

Re: Remington Model 1894 Pigeon and Trap Guns
On an inside surface of the receiver is faintly marked "Oct 30st 94." I'm guessing that is the patent or model date. Two patents pertaining to the Remington Hammerless Double were issued on the same day, October 30, 1894. No. 528,507 pertaining to the milling of the frame was granted to R...

Re: Remington Model 1894 Pigeon and Trap Guns
When I was a kid, leading the charge of the baby boomers, my Father had Winchester rifles Model 54 .22 Hornet, Model 70 .30-06, Model 71 .348 Win., Model 94 .32 WS & Model 67 .22s. His shotguns were Remingtons, a pair of AE-Grades in 12- and 16-gauge for the uplands and his The Sportsman 12-gaug...

Re: Remington Model 1894 Pigeon and Trap Guns
The no-safety guns I've recorded are all in the 132xxx and higher serial number range. The one that broke my heart was, 139928, a DEO-Grade that Pete Harvey had at the Pikesville, Maryland, gun show at least three decades ago that had a very poorly done retro-fit safety.

Re: Remington Model 1894 Pigeon and Trap Guns
The "Pigeon Gun" first appears in the first 1902 Remington Arms Co. catalog, and even though they state "Ordnance" steel barrels, they list CE, DE and EE Grades. Nowhere in the text do they state no safety , and the illustration shows a safety slide. Pigeon Gun, 1902 Remington Ar...

That engraving pattern is very much taken from the Winchester 12-5 pattern for their Model 12 --

Re: Model 31 Skeet?
It has been shot, but is in much better shape than most of the WW-II vintage Winchester Model 12 Skeet Guns I used at various military skeet ranges in the 1970s.

Model 31 Skeet?
Five years ago I bought a gun that has all the features of a solid rib 12-gauge Model 31 Skeet except the barrel is choked Imp Cyl not SKEET . Also, my gun is stamped on the left side near the rear of the receiver with R.L.B. and the Ordnance flaming bomb. My gun has a barrel date code of August 194...
