GRAF Brass / Model 14/141
If any of you follow my postings you might have noted my total lack of trust in after market brass including Graf! For a number of years I believe Graf was using brass from Quality Cartridge & Jamison and it totally sucked......No, it was total crap! I was able to score some new Graf brass at a ...

Re: Dating a 40-XB/R
I am out of my "comfort zone" here but my 40XBR is clearly marked as such and has a barrel code. My personal opinion is this is a 40-X with an after-market barrel.

Re: Unknown Pump .22
It is a Model 12 so identified by the RW above the serial, no full photo of the rifle so its hard to determine the particular version. Add a few photos of the entire rifle so that when John Gyde tunes in he can give you specific details. Looks like a candidate for a "parts gun". Jim Peters...

Re: Model 14-1/2 Interesting Version
I tried to download pics but maybe they were too big. Will try again with this post, if interested contact me at: nambujim@charlotte.twcbc.com
Yeah, bloody pic file is too large. You can view the rifle on Gunbroker or I can send you the pics. Like I say, its at least a 95% rifle.

Model 14-1/2 Interesting Version
Remington did make some Model 14's & 14-1/2's out of sequence, this 14-1/2 is in 96%+ condition in 38-40 with Serial 32613 but has a barrel code for 1927. It has a recessed shell head but doesn't have the primer, it has all the internal upgrades like the hook & lever safety system, and even ...

Re: New Here - Model 14
Buffalo Arms for years has made the best "semi-factory" loads for the Model 14 AND the only supplier that takes note of the need to use "round nose" bullets. yea! OH! you do need a new follower, the earlier ones were not hardened, and wear more easily. There is also the possibili...

Re: New Here - Model 14
Ed! I received your "very good" pictures in a private email. That rifle is 100% original except for the replacement butt plate, not a bad replacement so "I" wouldn't bother to change it. Original Bakelite butt plates in usable condition are impossible to find. The rifle has a &qu...

Re: New Here - Model 14
The low serial guns of course were (in my opinion) the worst, at about serial 22,000 they started to modify every internal part more than just a few times. Your rifle dates to 1913, it probably had a "bakelite" butt plate that with a bit of age cracked easily. Plastic nylon reproduction pl...

Re: New Here - Model 14
No pictures, no serial, no caliber, description of a rifle that shoots, hangs up, bad follower, and who knows what for a butt plate. Its been seriously messed with, good luck, and that's the best I can do with the information provided.

Model 141 / Pricing / Gun Auction Sites
When I have nothing to do I get on the "forum" and try to provide worthwhile information/opinion as it pertains to the Model 14/141 marketplace. Many (most) sellers on the internet don't have a clue about the differences between a 14 or 141 and this includes Numrich. You see sellers everyw...

Re: 540X chronology of changes
I'm not sure what you're asking here but with all that has been going on at Remington since your rifles were produced, its unlikely the info you're looking for will be available in your lifetime. I was working for DuPont when this rifle was introduced, was given one to "play with" if you w...

Re: Model 14 question
Hey! Not that it matters but I found a plunger for the TNS slide if you decide you want to have it installed on the bolt. $75 for the plunger/labor plus return postage. Thought I would pass on the info. Don't know if your slide still has the spring and don't know that I have one but probably can fin...

Re: Model 141 / Buying Crap from the net
I wasn't going to make this post BUT its really hot outside and I don't have a lot to do. I'm attaching pictures of my "Crap Model 14 of the month" now for sale on one of the auction sites. The reason for my posting this particular gun is the "description" provided by the seller ...
