Thanks for the reply David. Yours has the cut off barrel; but, is complete otherwise with the rolling block and hammer? Are the tangs bent? I wonder if it could be restored? I made a post with pics of my 721 and 722 but my post only comes up when you do a search for 721 or something, it is not showing here at the main site for "Post 1898"...I put a lot of effort into those pics and it's ashame that it's not being shared..... Not sure what your saying here thi...

There is a part , in the Remington Society's web page that tells you how to read the identification marks on the side of the barrel of rifles. Manufacture dates. / barrel code location diagram. Only problem I have with that is that you cannot read the diagram that they have that tells you what mark...
