Re: Model 1100 - 1187 - 870 sear springs

The Remington competition spring that I purchased did yield a 3 pound 2 ounce trigger pull when combined with a standard sear set up. What I meant was that I found it did not have a noticeable positive effect on my shooting.

Neat stuff. There are also a bunch of pics of John Wayne and Robert Stack with Remingtons floating around on the net.

They had good taste anyway. Remington got a lot of good press back then.

Re: Model 1100 - 1187 - 870 sear springs

Remington sells a heavy duty one (7-8 pounds), and a Sporting one, and a Competition one (3 pounds), all for the 870. They will fit an 1100 and 11-87, but there is concern a lighter spring may be jarred off by the semi auto action. F91771 870 SEAR SPRING COMPETITION TRAP 3 LB $5.15 F97642 870 SEAR S...

Re: Model 11 roll engraving

You probably know that rollmarking is not engraving. It is done with a die. There have been so many different styles when you include the "commemorative" guns I don't know where you could find them all. Some of the more common styles are shown here: https://www.remingtonsociety.org/collect...

Yep, that looks like a release trigger. Don't have a clue what brand. If I remember right Timney used to stamp their logo on theirs.

Re: Stock Bearing Plate, Shim

Back when, I got a couple of stocks from Remington that came with Pachmyr pads on them. I think Pachmyr made the pads for Remington.

Re: Stock Bearing Plate, Shim

I am assuming they figured the longer length of wood allowed it to compress too much over time due to recoil and then the stock edges would hit the receiver.

Re: Stock Bearing Plate, Shim

I have never seen a Remington 870, 878, 58, 11-48, etc. with a wood stock that came without a stock bearing plate. I did not know they ever made them without the plate.

And that is what happens when you install a wood stock on a Remington repeater WITHOUT installing the stock bearing plate.

Re: Remington 870 Police Magnum Broken?-Photos

Hard to tell for sure without watching it function, but it appears one or both shell stops may be bent. The engagement surfaces on the action bars may be at fault, but that's fairly rare. If you do not have the later version with the 'U' cut out on the carrier to allow you to clear a shell that slip...

Re: Model 58 failure to eject shell

Not that common an issue. 58s are usually very reliable until something breaks. For starters:
Is your gas regulating cap intact and set to the light setting ?
Is the hook broken off on your extractor ?
Have you disassembled it and cleaned everything ?
Is the gas piston in good shape ?

Re: Rem 1100 swap with 1187 wood?

The buttstock is a straight swap, within gauge and edition (all 11-87 20s work with LTs). The fore ends - except for a very few early ones I have seen, an 1100 fore end will need some interior wood removed at the front to work on an 11-87. An 11-87 fore end will need about a 3/16" spacer to wor...
