Re: Confusion in Dating 572 Fieldmaster

I am trying to date a 572 and have not been able to narrow down the production date. The year date code is "I" which make it either 76 , 88, or 2014. When I look at what I find for history or modifications over the years I am not able to rule out some of those date. Here are some of the k...

Re: Model 12

I have a model 12 from childhood. It has RW serial # 119481 on the bottom of the receiver. It has an octagon barrel with a Marble R7 tang peep sight. The aperture is missing. Can someone tell me when this gun was manufactured and what size aperture I need to buy and where I might find one? Thanks T...

Re: Surge in Prices?

My opinion........ Prices? I wonder which direction they will go when the manufacturers are put out of business.....and all of the "registered" (and unregistered) firearms are confiscated.....and all the "registered" firearms owners (in whatever states that applies to) are visite...

Re: Pre-Model 11 Remington?

I agree with "Researcher" regarding the buffing and it also appears that the stock was also refinished somewhere along the way.

Re: Pre-Model 11 Remington?

I have a Remington autoloader. Looks like a Model 11, but the serial number marked just ahead of the well is 38. Upper left side of the receiver is marked 'Remington Arms Co, Ilion, NY, Browning patents................etc. The mark on the left rear of the barrel is 'FULL' and top of barrel is marke...

Re: 870TB LOP?

The standard LOP on a Remington trap shotgun is 14 1/2". But, that can vary from user to user depending on if they want a custom fit. "Length or the shotgun length of pull is the measurement between the centre of the trigger and the centre of the butt. Typically, this will range anywhere f...

Re: Sticky Recoil pad on Reminton 700

Can I get a replacement recoil pad for my synthetic stock 7mm 08. The one that came new on this gun is desinograting. Or melting . It get black on everything it touches and sticks to everything. It is horrible. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Remington+model+700+replacement+recoil+pads&t=ffhp&ia=...

Re: 721 question

From my point of view........."USE IT"!. That's what it was meant for. Over the previous 35 years, I acquired a number of fairly pristine 721s and 722s that I've used and taken game with. A couple of my favorites are in the .257 Roberts chambering. I also have a 721 in .264 Winchester Magn...

Re: Early Model 40?

My (semi-educated) "guess" is that it's a bench rest rifle made up on a Remington 722 action. Not a 40X. But custom built by C. R. Hart (from the barrel stamping).......a recognized custom rifle and barrel maker. Or, a custom rifle built by some gunsmith using a C.R. Hart barrel. A quick s...

Re: Originality?

Greetings all: I'm wondering if Model 12 barrels were dated as they were manufactured or after they were assembled onto a receiver? Saw a very late serialized rcvr sporting a bbl. dated 1932 (year code "A") . Looked absolutely original in every respect with no stamped repair codes. Likely...
