Re: Remington 31 20ga short barrel question

The OP's barrel has a date code of RTT R = November TT = 1948. The top barrel is a February 1949 12-gauge 30-inch Full barrel -- Front beads.JPG lower barrel is a September 1936 16-gauge 26-inch Cyl barrel, part of a two-barrel set and the bead on the 28-inch Full barrel has the same bead the same d...

Re: Gifted a model 11

Sad to say the wood is after market, the metal is badly buffed and reblued, not looking at all like original Remington finishes, and it is a mismatch of parts with the much later "The Sportsman" marked bolt.

Re: 1100 - which model is this?

At that time, 1979, the only difference between the 12-gauge Model 1100 Field Gun and the Model 1100SA Skeet Gun is the skeet gun had a 26-inch, vent rib, SKEET choke barrel with a mid-bead while the Field Gun only had a front bead.

Re: 1894 10 gauge shot count?

I have yet to see a hang-tag for either a 10- or 16-gauge Remington Hammerless Double. The heaviest factory offered 10-gauge shells in the days the Remington Hammerless Doubles were made was 1 1/4 ounce.

Re: Model 31 Trigger Group Question

I have seen Model 31s with the Aeromet receiver marked "Model 31L" but most are just marked "Model 31" the same as the steel receivers. The Aeromet receivers appear to be serial numbered right along with the steel receivers.

Remington Arms Co., Inc. announced the Model 31L "Lightweight" with the Aeromet receiver along with the introduction of the 1941 version of the Model 31 with the larger trigger group. Model 31L 1941 folder.jpeg Already by the June 10, 1941, Remington catalog the Model 31L was listed "...

Re: Model 29-T

That gun has been buffed and reblued. Doesn't look like original Remington Arms Co., Inc. finishes at all. Can see a few rust pits that weren't completely buffed out. There are very few restorers who seem to be able to duplicate the "between the wars" Remington metal finishes. The Model 29...

Re: Model 1900 extractor

Sounds like he has a KED-Grade. When the K-quality Remington Hammerless Doubles were introduced in 1900 there were two versions, the K-Grade with Remington Steel barrels and a plain extractor and the KED-Grade with two-stripe Damascus barrels and automatic ejectors. In the 1903-04 Remington Arms Co....

The John M. Browning designed Remington Autoloading Shotgun was introduced in the 1905-06 Remington Arms Co. catalog. 1905-06 Catalogue.jpg Both of your guns are from that era, though 6600 appears to have later wood on it. In 1911, Marcellus Hartley Dodge combined his arms and ammunition companies a...

Re: Long Range Model 11 (2 shot?)

The receiver with the serial number 397556 was put in work during August 1937. Remington quit the separate serial number sequence for 12-gauge Sportsman on 24 August 1937, at 515506. So, that gun is among the first Sportsman serial numbered in the Model 11 sequence. The barrel should have the serial...
