Re: remington model 12

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that the threaded holes may have been to mount a light of some kind for night hunting (spotlighting). Don't know about the "hash marks". Does it look like they were original......like from the factory or cut in with a marking tool.....or a hacksaw blade?...

Re: 870 stock and forend

A 12 ga. stock should fit on a 20 ga. "standard" frame gun. And I would say "probably" to the forend. There might be a little more gap around the barrel, but I compared two of mine and they look like they should interchange. If you're talking about a "Lightweight" 20......

Re: Need Info on the .236 Remington

I consulted my old (1969 vintage) "Cartridges of the World" and could not find anything with that designation in any category......American, European, Obsolete, etc.......nothing. EDIT: I did some searching on the Internet for obsolete cartridges and found this link: http://www.starsandstr...

Re: 660mohawk

A date code of "L R" would be February of 1968.......which I would believe, rather than 1983 (which is a date code of "D"), as they quit making the 660's in the early '70's.

Re: 660mohawk

Are you sure that's what it says? I've never heard of a 660 Mohawk. I have three 600 Mohawks (2 from '74 and 1 from '77.....a .222, a .243 and a 6mm Rem. in that order). I'm well aware of and familiar with the "standard" 600's, 660's and then the 600 Mohawks, but a 660 Mohawk may be pretty...

Re: Remington rifle 1950s-1960s

Dear all, Thank you for the valuable information. The drawing of the rifle does look like the one that we possess. The "extractor part" of our rifle has been malfunctioned & we would like to purchase the part for replacement. According to the manual that Mr. Den has shared with us, th...

Re: Remington rifle 1950s-1960s

If you don't know what a "patridge" (correct spelling) sight is, here's a link explaining iron sights from Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_sight One selection from that link: "Patridge sights consisting of a square or rectangular post and a flat-bottomed square notch are ...

Re: 870 Wingmaster

*I* wouldn't "assume" that. The image (text) from 1961 mentions the AP model in describing the "Rifled Slug Special". I don't have any (physical) catalogs prior to 1968, but in the 1968 catalog they mention new stock designs for the Model 760 pump rifle. They used the "corn...

Re: 870 Wingmaster

You can look at the information in this link and see if it helps. http://www.remingtonsociety.com/rsa/journals/870 Problem with answering your question without a qualifier is that they used that "corncob" type of stock on their "Police" (law enforcement) models for a long time. Den

Yep. That's what it is.
Here's a link to Remington's firearms manufacturing history for the 550.

And, here's a link where you can download a manual for it.

Re: 870 LW Magnum Vent Rib Barrel No choke designation Coded?

For what it's worth......... I took my dial caliper and measured the bore at the muzzle of two of my 20 gauge shotguns.......a Remington 870 28" full choke (coincidentally, also made in 1976) and a Savage/Stevens 311E F/M. The measurement on both full choke barrels was 0.600" and the modif...

I would guess up to the end of their manufacture date.

There's one listed in here for 1960.

Re: to crimp or not to crimp
