Gordon, This is late but my thoughts, if the gun is not in good condition restore it otherwise I would leave it alone you just waste your money like they say refinish you ruin the value, orginal is best if you want a new gun buy one..I collect Remington Doubles

Hi Sam, You have a Model 1882 Remington grade 2 or 3 somebody has cut the barrels.The chambers are 2 7/8 inch standard the fore end tip is gutta-percha on high grade guns the butt plate and the tip are made of horn The lower grades had steel butt plate Sam you have my number if you need more answers...

Hi,,From your pictures the gun was sent back to Remington after1888 and another set of barrels made for the gun with same serial number target pellet count and stamp on barrel lugs also stamp with new Company name on rib.

Hi, From the pictures your gun was sent back to Remington and rebarreled with second set of barrels.They were serial number to the gun target pellet count stamped on barrel lugs and new company name on rib.

ohiosam, I need to see the top rib of the barrels and the bottom where the forend pins. also the barrel flats, the water table (reciever barrel flats)the inside of the forend that goes up against the barrels.are you in ohio?I have a few guns pictured in Remington Double book..

HI, I just reread your decripition and you said the second set of barrels are marked Remington Arms Co. Ilion N.Y. USA. That means they are or replace after 1888 because E.Remington & Son's went bankrupt and was sold and name changed to Remington Arms Co. Ilion N.Y. USA. The same as on your seco...

HI, I would like to see this gun and barrels.You said there one set is 10 ga. and one 12 ga. usually in a two barrel set of different gauges there are two forends one for each set of barrels because of the diameter of barrels.If I remember right Remington did not stamp pellet count till 1889 Model.Y...

Hi,I don't think the 1882 is the 87 and 89 are you said interchangeable they almost never fit right one way or another and gauge makes a difference.

Hi, Standard chamber for 10ga. is 2 7/8 inch.The number 3 is the grade. There are different ways you can sell, the main thing is you get a fair price for the guns.You won't get it at gun shop.I belong to the R.S.A. and collect all Models of Remington Doubles if I can help in any way. Also I would be interested in buying any Grades I don't have.
