Re: Bulge in Damascus 1894 barrel.

Tough decision. Bulges are not hard to repair by an EXPERT. Pressures are very low at the muzzle. BUT if it bulges more, there is a risk of fracture http://pic20.picturetrail.com:80/VOL1373/6511424/17546456/404522250.jpg I'd probably leave it alone. You are aware that there are commercial 12g Smokel...

Re: Michigan resources for Model 1882 SXS high grade 12 GA

ANY attempt at a clean-up, done wrong, will substantially diminish the value and collectability of the gun. Simply wipe down the metal parts with RemOil at this point. Bachelder in Grand Rapids could give you an idea as to the cost of a check and clean vs. a full restoration, and then do the work. ...

The Remington "Cubs" Series

There were (at least) two variants of the "Cubs" advertising series about 1912-1917; one by Lynn Bogue Hunt, who provided cover illustrations for Boys' Life, Field & Stream and other sporting magazines, and advertising illustrations for Remington-U.M.C., Winchester, DuPont and others T...

Re: In need of info on a Remington 1889 model

Indeed
1 1/4 oz. 3 1/2 Dr. Eq. BULK Smokeless was about 11,500 psi
1 1/4 oz. 3 1/2 Dr. Eq. DENSE Smokeless was 12,500 psi

SAAMI allows the maximum average pressure for 2 3/4” and 3” shotgun shells to be 11,500 psi +/- 900 psi.

Re: Remington 1894 16ga Grade B from Argentina

¡Bienvenido Jose! Steel barrels were introduced on the Remington Hammerless Model of 1894 in the Remington Arms Co. April 1897 catalogue. If Ordnance steel, it should be so marked. It appears that the metal parts have been polished and the top lever blued when the barrels were blued. If done with ho...
