Re: Rifle identification

Although I usually only mess with Model 14/141 Remington Rifles I also happen to have a "commercial" Mauser 98 chambered for .257 Ackley Improved. One of the things I did to it years ago was install a "Dayton Traister Mark II Safety" that would allow shorter safety movement allow...

Re: Model 14 question

Once you remove the slide there is no question as to where the spring/plunger go, if you want some excitement, remove the slide from your other TNS to see exactly what you are working with. As they say "a picture is worth a thousand words". Yes, it is spring loaded, and quite possibly the ...

Re: Model 14 question

John!
Thought I might have one plunger left but I used to repair a TNS bolt that now sits in my drawer full of 14/141 bolts. Wish I had an extra.

Re: Model 14 question

There is a tiny spring/plunger on the side of the slide that causes it to click into place. Its common that when someone removes the slide from the bolt the tiny plunger will shoot out into space. As long as the slide is properly installed stradling the "sear lock" extension it will work p...

Model 141 / Buying Crap from the net

Here is a "prime" example of what uneducated buyers will pay on the internet. The seller here didn't do himself any favors by stating "their research determined this rifle was a factory "C" grade, absolutely NONE of the work was done at the factory. What they are offering is...

Remington Model 14 & 141 / Bolts

Starting this off wishing I was about half as smart as portrayed on my forum posts and being under the influence of a "migraine" thought I would just throw out a bunch of information I've acquired over the years pertaining to 14/141 bolts. For short, lets call this posting "Bolt Chat&...

Re: Model 14/141 Parts / Buying from the Internet

Here is a recent posting of another bolt for $69.50 plus shipping/tax. It is listed as "New Old Stock" and the description is as follows "unused but has oil stains from long term storage". ................and this chap has had over 5,000 sales. It is advertised as a bolt for a 14...

Re: Model 14/141 Parts / Buying from the Internet

Yikes!

Thanks for the kind words, just trying to point out that almost never do the advertisers say that their bloody offering actually works along with being less than honest about the description!

Re: Model 14/141 Parts / Buying from the Internet

This rifle is listed by a seller I have done business with and for the most part trust. This 141 is described as "Collector Quality" for $695 in .35 Remington. Here is my take on this rifle: Ill fitting butt plate. After market swivel screwed into stock. Missing rear sight. ............and...

Model 14/141 Parts / Buying from the Internet

Knowing when a seller doesn't have a clue as to what he is selling and stretches the truth about the description is someone to avoid. Hope the bloody image loads. This bolt is being offered for a Model 141 for $109 described as being in good shape with minor surface rust & dings. You draw your o...

Model 14/141 Buying Online / Gunbroker & Others

I have been meaning to put together a post on the Forum on this subject for some time pointing out the shortcomings of buying vintage rifles. I have been getting 3-4 inquiries a week from "nice people" who purchased a 14 or 141 online only to find out it has problems. These problems includ...

Re: Model 14

That's good, should be an easy correction with that sight.

If you decide you want the M25, we could do payments...........its not my rifle, selling
it for a sick friend.

Re: Model 14

Eddie/Others! The 14 working "parts gun" sold, the guy got a good deal. It worked flawlessly! If you are interested in that Model 25 I could go $1025 Plus postage if I didn't have to go through the seller. For info. The hole pattern on the side of your Model 14 looks like an old Weaver Mou...

Re: Model 14

Eddie! You did good with that rifle, the bloody sight is worth a "bunch" and is the best iron sight every made the rifle. That mixed heritage .30 Cal you were talking about on GB is probably mine but but it works like a champ. I notice in "most" listings they don't tell you that ...
