You say the primer hits look normal? If that's the case I would look to the ammo. Just because it's new ammo doesn't mean it's good. I've had new ammo in the past do the same thing.

Re: remington rand 1911 no visual no#s
To my knowledge they all had serial # on the right side of the frame just above the trigger. I suppose it could be a "lunch box gun" that was whisked out of the factory before a serial # was added. But it's most likely a pistol that was "brought home" and because it said US prope...

Re: Remington Autoloading shotgun
Thanks again Will. I think I have all the info now to finish up. I'm doing this in my spare time so it might be a little while before I can post some pics but I will when I'm done.

Re: Remington Autoloading shotgun
That sure does help Will! that's EXACTLY the info I was looking for. But what about the bolt itself (the side that shows in the ejection port)? Is it rust blued or in the white (pollished)? Also what about the firing pin retaining pin head?
I keep saying thanks but I mean it!
Thanks again!

Re: Remington Autoloading shotgun
I have two more question for you guys, 1)Was the bolt on my old girl in the white or blued originally? 2)Was there any other crumbs that were left in the white? I've got the barrel and the receiver reblued. It took a lot of prep work (320 emery cloth strips, to purple scotch bright, to gray scotch b...

Re: Remington Autoloading shotgun
Thanks Researcher, I was fairly certain that I had narrowed the date to 1910 and the pistol grip to round. The pic from the 1910 catalog really confirms it, Thanks. Fowlgunner, I have 3 barrels and none are the correct serial#s. In answer to your question, "Is there a Remington logo stamped on ...

Remington Autoloading shotgun
I have an old pre model 11 (humpback) autoloading shotgun, serial #95674 in 12 Ga. The old girl looks like she was rode hard and put away wet on the outside (rust everywhere), but is sound with very little ware or rust on the inside. It was going in the trash heap at a neighbors house and I just cou...

Re: 721 info w/ pic
I have a 1918 "custom" mauser in 6mm rem. that has a stock with the exact same profile and the exact same fore end tip and grip cap, white spacer and all. It is a Fajen stock.

Re: Newbe needs help
I have a 522 that I have put thousands of rounds through. It's a great little rifle. The takedown isn't as easy as some, but it will run for hundreds and hundreds of rounds without cleaning. When I have a bunch of kids on the line it really gets a workout. They just love it.

Re: 788, just the facts...
I bought a 788 in 30-30 when they first came out. I loved that rifle. It was the most accurate 30-30 I've ever owned (owned 9 or 10 30-30s over the years). But I was out sighting it in for it's 2nd deer season and the bolt handle came right off in my hand (soddering released from the bolt body). Sen...
