Re: 511SB Smoothbore

I haven't found the production numbers of the M/511 sb. Most of the SBs were made for the 510. I had quite a few of the 510 SBs but have never seen a 511 or 512. I have heard of very few.

Re: Remington Model 788
Well the good news is that Brownells still has the .308-series magazines in stock at a reasonable price. No need to search far and wide yet.
The 788 does not have the "feel" of many bolt action rifles, but I have yet to see one that did not shoot...

Re: Remington Martini Single Shot .22LR

Pages 358 & 359 in our book (Remington .22 Rimfire Rifles) have some info and photos of Camp Perry rifles. A photo of one I used to own (serial #8) is on page 359.

Re: Remington Model 12C?

Your M/12 was made in 1913. The letters you see are inspector/proof stamps. Please use only standard velocity ammo if you decide to fire it.

Re: 572 with no barrel dowel screw??

There were several minor changes in the M/572 during the production run. As an example, at least four different butt plates were used. If yours was made in 1957 it may have a hole in the trigger guard. Yours would be near the time of transition to some internal parts changes. Many parts did not inte...

Re: HV 22 short

Your date of assembly was in 1915. I don't know pressure vrs hi-vel, but I would stick to ammo stamped std velocity.

Re: 572 engraved Fieldmaster

Although the engraving appears to be very, very good. the wood looks to be regular grade. The work would be "F" grade. If factory, the serial #s would be engraved, not stamped. I doubt that it is factory engraved, but for $500 what are you waiting for????

What is the serial #? I believe the NRA rifles have unique serial #s.

Re: Targetmaster 510

The M/510 is a single shot. It sounds like someone has tried to turn it into a repeater. The brass part you mention is not Remington.

Re: remington 510 targetmaster

The M/510 was made from March 1939 to December 1962. The bolts and triggers on early guns were case hardened. Later ones were were chrome plated. Rem did use some old style parts in later guns during clean-up just to confuse us... The deciding point should be that through 1941 a serial # was stamped...

Re: Very confusing 788

The employees at Rem get info from records that are not accurate. These inquires are not their top priority either. The corporate culture is to produce new products, not dig out info on old ones. Although it is discouraging I can understand where their effort is...

Re: Remington Model 12 Questions

I had a two digit serial # M/12 and only received a slight premium when I sold it. Yours appears to be in good condition and does not appear to have any added parts. The butt plate should not have UMC stamped with the Rem stamp. From the photos it looks like yours may have been reblued. If so, the c...

Re: Remington Model 12 Questions

Your M/12-A was made in 1910. The letters you mentioned are not a date code. They are inspector/proof/testing stamps. The date codes were not used until 1921. The long tang configuration on the butt stock, rear sight and caliber stamp of "Long Rifle" are correct for 1910 production. Please...

Re: Remington 14 Help (pics)

That would mean May 1928. Trying to set a date by the serial # is frustrating. Nambujim got as close as is possible with only the serial #. The date code gives the month/year of assembly.

Re: Remington 521 T

The "M/521TL Junior Special"name was changed to M/521T by 1957. Many small changes were made during the production run including the names "Target Rifle" & "Gov't Special". They are entailed in our book, pages 262-267. The M/521T is my personal favorite Rem bolt act...
