Mr. Hosmer: Thanks much on this rifle. I have shot this and it is a great shooter. Can you give me some comments on my chemically removing the re-blue and using hand polishing with bronze wool and compound to try to remove the lazy grinder wire brush marks and bring attempt to bring back the origina...

Re: NYS Rolling Blocks ?s on "Tinned" finish

Ehull: Thanks so much for your help. As I have the one rifle disassembled to a barreled action I will post some pics of the BA and the parts. I have been a collector for many years of Milsurp and C&Rs. I try not to disturb original finish and if it needs cleaning I try to use abrasives as little...

Re: Still would like info on the ?s

So far, all I have done is soak the barreled action in Kroil / water /Ballistol soaked rags and then use BRONZE wool to wipe away the brown leaving the tin surface bright and shiny again. Now I know some must be about to scream about ruining it, however the tinned finish is still there, I am just cl...

Re: Brass frame Remington rifle

OK! My wife reads Chinese (as do most all Koreans) and this is pronounced "KIL or Gil" is the character's for "GOOD LUCK or to have a "HAPPY FATE" . Seems that the person holding this should consider himself LUCKY to have found such a nice old RB.

Re: New York contract rifle unknown caliber

Remington Military RBROTW indicates that those in 45/70 were issued to the Buffalo Rgt. Probably not to many of those are still around. Should be a nice keeper.

Re: Addicted to Military Rolling Blocks

No wonder I can't find the darn things, and when I do they cost so damn much. You have them all!!! And yes they are very addictive. I only have about 8 or nine but all of them are great to shoot. I reload for the 43 Spanish both long rifle and Carbine, the 50/70 NYS rifles and and several 7mm that a...
